The 3D printing movement is happening around the world! 

As time advances, so does technology. Printers seem to be lacking in advancment, we had colour and photo printers, but not much else until this new 3d printing technology.

3D printing is at a stage where computers where 30 years ago, still in its early stages of development and has not yet reached the commercial arena. Saying that, it is a growing market and will grow at a vast amount in the next few years.

The great thing about 3D printing is the use of prototypes, trying something out, and make advancements on the prototype, make it smaller or make it bigger for example. Many markets can make use of 3D printing especially engineers of the future in areas such as automotive, aerospace engineering or even bio medical, dental, jewellery, fashion and the education system realises that the skills in 3D printing will be needed in the near future.

3D printers are becoming more affordable and more versatile. The possibilities of 3D printing are huge, whether it be; making limbs, parts for aircrafts, guns, toys, limbs the possibilities are endless. The 3D printer was invented in 1983 and is now a band wagon worth jumping onto in terms of investors. 


So how does a 3D printer work? It builds slices less than a mm at a time building layer by layer until it has finished building the 3D file with a corn grade plastic. 

3D printing takes a 3d model or from an electronic data source and creates a three dimensional using successive layers less than 3mm which are laid down under computer control. This process repeats and repeats until it has created the 3D file. 3D printing is also known as additive manufacturing.
